When asked to write down the literary texts that they consider to be essential reading, teachers and parents alike wrote down similar titles. For Romanian literature, the most frequent titles, regardless of grade level, were Ion Creangă’s Childhood Memories (45 times), Cezar Petrescu’s Fram, the Polar Bear (13 times), Alex Donovici’s Țup (10 times) and I. L. Caragiale’s Mr. Goe (7 times).
